Techniques Taught In This Course
Techniques:
How to choose and alter a book and turn it into your art journal.
Collage
How to use coffee as a medium.
Intuitive Stitching.
Incorporate Magazines into your journal.
The Lessons
The course begins with a video discussing art supplies. I encourage you to use the supplies and paper you have on hand and work in the colors you love.
You can find a list of suggested art supplies at the bottom of this page.
Lesson 1 | Picking The Best Book
In this lesson, I will show you examples of what to look for when selecting a used book to turn into your art journal. If you don’t have a book, a magazine will work as well.
Lesson 2 | Collage & Breaking Through
In this lesson, you will use all your bits, and pieces and collage them onto the page. We will use coffee to give the pages a time-worn look. I will share how I glue pages together, collage, and tear the paper to reveal what is beneath. This technique creates amazing texture and interest to your journal pages.
Lesson 3 | Using All The Scraps
In this lesson, Tiffany shows us how to reuse all the papers leftover from past projects. How to work intuitively, and let go of perfection. She will add layers of paper, along with images from vintage yearbooks. She demonstrates how to work with spray inks in unique ways to add beautiful transparent washes to your journal pages.
Lesson 4 | Fabric & Stitching
In this lesson, Tiffany guides you through her unique process of intuitively slow stitch and tear through the fabric to reveal an opportunity for something cool. You will create a "fabric page" in your art journal that incorporates color, texture, and a bit of imagination.
Lesson 5 | Finishing Your Cover
In this final lesson, Tiffany shows you how to create dimension, texture, and interest to personalize your cover.
