The Lessons
You can find a list of suggested art supplies at the bottom of this page.
Lesson 1 | Explore And Connect With Provence
Through this lesson, we will connect to Provence by creating a vision board. We will gather materials that inspire our own day in Provence. What would your day look like, what would you be doing, what scents are in the air, what season would you be visiting?
When we have answers to these questions, we can begin drawing inspiration from resources to inspire our work and color palette for the course. I want you to select a color palette that both connects to the area as well as resonates with you.
Lesson 2 | Lavender Studies
You can not think of Provence without thinking about lavender. The fields and fields of purple engulf the region and the glorious scent fills the air. Through this study, we will connect to a natural element that will be used throughout this course.
Lesson 3 | Saunter The French Markets | Art Journal
We will saunter through the stands of the amazing Provencal markets. Exploring the local offerings and allowing our five senses to transport us to the various markets. We will create mixed media techniques to help you create an art journal spread that reflects your experience and feeling when studying Provence.
Lesson 4 | Fields Of Lavender | Portrait Painting
We will take our inspiration from our lavender studies and explore the various lavender fields by way of a portrait painting. We will build paint and collage layers to create a mixed media portrait on a wood panel. Exploring color theory, portrait techniques and lighting.
Lesson 5 | Immerse Yourself | Mini Landscape
Where exactly is Provence?
Provence makes up a region in southern France. Through acrylic landscape mini studies, I wanted to focus on the Luberon Valley and the lavender fields. We will create acrylic landscape scenes with two different compositions. These dramatic compositions will draw the viewer's eye into your work.
Lesson 6 | Hilltop Village Of Gordes | Collage Landscape
We will immerse ourselves in Provence by visiting the hilltop village of Gordes. We will create a photo transfer collage piece using photographs, drawing techniques, mark-making, and collage elements.
Mixed media and collage techniques combined with painterly marks will make these photographs unique to our own style with meaning connected to our wild soul.
Lesson 7 | Intuitive Abstract Lavender Floral
Through this lesson, we will follow our instincts and the feeling we got from exploring. Think of how your sur- roundings impact your artwork. Use your five senses to explore the beauty of Provence even when studying from home
