Book Of Discarded Art
I was cleaning the studio after filming my latest class, Voyage, and had a moment of clarity that changed everything I thought I understood about the creative process.
Standing in the middle of my messy studio and looking at stacks of discarded paintings on beautiful paper that didn't make the final class, something made me take a closer look. In a single moment, I realized there was something significant to the work I had done.
It was bigger than my initial frustration and disappointment; it was as if someone had grabbed me by the shoulders and pointed me in the right direction.
After all the years of creating art and feeling like I understood the creative process, I realized I have so much more to learn. Every sketch, mark, and failed painting has a significant role in the creative process.
I decided to hold on to all the pieces and create a small book of my discarded art to act as a compass and reminder that the process of creativity is the North Star, and when we stay the course, practice, and reflect, we will find the art we're meant to create.
I would love to know what you think.
Thanks for stopping by!
love, Renee
